Info for Parents and Guardians

1. WAIVERS

All participants under the age of 18 must have a parent or guardian sign a waiver for them. Once a waiver has been signed by a parent or guardian, an account will be created for the participant so that the parent or guardian does not have to complete a waiver every time the participant enters the facility.

If you feel you need to be in the park to assist your child, you will be required to sign a waiver as you are still subject to the dangers of the skatepark.

2. THE SKATEPARK IS NOT A DAYCARE

While the skatepark is focused on providing safer spaces for youth and providing youth programming, we are not a childcare provider. If the child/youth you are responsible for is not old enough to take care of themselves or is unable to behave responsibly and respectfully without supervision, do not leave the facility while the child/youth is present. If you leave and we feel that the participant requires adult supervision, you will be contacted and asked to return.

3. COACH BEGINNERS ON SAFETY AND ETIQUETTE

Please read over our section on Safety and Etiquette for Beginners and coach the participant based on these suggestions before they enter the park. Having an understanding of safety and etiquette beforehand will help avoid accidents and conflicts.

One very important tip for all beginners is to be aware of their surroundings in the skatepark. More experienced riders will move faster and can come from all directions. Before riding towards an obstacle, everyone should make sure that there are no riders coming from any direction that you may collide with as you proceed.

4. WATCH FROM A SAFE DISTANCE

If you intend to stay at the park while your child is using the facility, please watch from a safe distance in the lobby or a designated area.

If you feel you need to be in the park to assist your child, you will be required to sign a waiver as you are still subject to the dangers of the skatepark.

5. CODE OF CONDUCT

The goal of Pitikwé Skatepark is to create a safe, welcoming environment for all. For this reason, our code of conduct applies to all who enter the facility, including parents and spectators. Should you violate park rules or the code of conduct, you will be asked to leave.
