Job Description: Executive Director – Pitikwé Skatepark

Position Title: Executive Director
Reports To: Board of Directors
Location: Winnipeg, MB
Employment Type: 25-40 hours week

Position Summary:

The Executive Director is the chief executive officer of the skateboard park and is responsible for providing strategic leadership, operational oversight, and financial stewardship. This individual will oversee all aspects of park management, including community outreach, staff leadership, fundraising, program development, and ensuring a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment for all users. The Executive Director works closely with the Board of Directors to fulfill the park’s mission and vision while fostering a culture of creativity, inclusivity, and excellence.

 


 

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Strategic Planning:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive strategy to achieve the park’s mission, vision, and goals.

  • Act as a dynamic leader and advocate for the skateboard park within the local and broader skateboarding community.

  • Work collaboratively with the Board of Directors to establish short- and long-term objectives, policies, and plans.

Operations & Staff Management:

  • Oversee day-to-day operations, including facility maintenance, programming, and events.

  • Hire, train, and manage a diverse and skilled team of staff and volunteers.

  • Develop and implement operational policies to ensure safety, compliance, and efficiency.

Fundraising & Financial Oversight:

  • Lead fundraising efforts, including grant writing, sponsorships, individual donations, and events.

  • Create and manage the annual budget, ensuring financial health and sustainability.

  • Provide regular financial reports to the Board of Directors and stakeholders.

Community Engagement & Outreach:

  • Build strong relationships with local organizations, schools, businesses, and government entities.

  • Act as the public face of the park, promoting its value to the community and advocating for skateboarding culture.

  • Develop and implement programs and events that engage the local community and attract diverse users.

Program Development:

  • Design innovative programs that cater to skaters of all skill levels, from beginners to professionals.

  • Partner with local instructors, professionals, and organizations to offer clinics, workshops, and competitions.

  • Ensure the park remains a hub for creativity and progression in skateboarding culture.

Risk Management & Compliance:

  • Ensure that all safety standards and risk management protocols are met.

  • Maintain compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.

  • Regularly evaluate park operations and user satisfaction to implement improvements.

 


 

  • Knowledge of risk management and safety protocols for extreme sports facilities.

  • Strong networking skills with community organizations, local businesses, and potential sponsors.
